Bon Appetite
A few nights ago we watched Julie and Julia, and decided the next day we were going to make one of Julia Child's recipes from her famous Mastering the Art of French Cooking. So, as I am currently visiting "The Bay State", we decided to make her Lobster Thermidor (Homard Thermidor), aka the most complicated lobster dish I have ever made. We must have used every pot and pan in the house for this one dish, and I must say, it was something special. Our hard work really did pay off, because it was simply delightful. The picture does not do the dish justice, because instead of stuffing the lobster/sauce mixture back into the shell, we heaped it on top of a piece of sourdough bread. Mmmm.
Hanukkah in the City
Well, Christmastime in the city really is all that they make it out to be. We had our annual Hanukkah the morning after Christmas and it was a huge success. On the menu was Dadie's famous egg salad, pigs and blankets, mushroom and onion turnovers, corn pie, challah, salami and mustard, and an assortment of cheeses and wine. A very typically Perlov menu.

Ketchup
Recently I have been neglecting this blog space, and there is no time like the present to catch up. And obviously, there is no time like the present because this is clearly a procrastination tool. Either that or a well deserved break.
Because of my allergies to Joey the Cat, time spent at Kat's house is rare. A few weeks ago however we spent a lovely day there, consisting primarily of my favorite activity: consumption. Her mom whipped up some pumpkin ravioli upon our arrival, and just a few hours later made eggplant parmesan from scratch. Here are some long lost photos of the event.

tonight for dinner: chive risotto cakes and arugula salad
1 cup greek yogurt
3 tsp chives
1 1/2 c. grated italian fontina
2 eggs
lots of salt and pepper
1 c. cooked risotto rice
panko bread crumbs
mix rice with first ingredients, chill for a while in the fridge (up to 2 hours) so the mixture hardens a little. bread with the panko and cook 3 minutes each side in oil. enjoy!
definitely serve with arugula salad with LEMON vinaigrette. the lemon is a must.
